WHAT HAS BEEN REQUESTED AND THE SOLUTION

The play “The Rasomon Phenomenon” of Anastasia Papastathi unfolds in the Middle Ages. After the trial of a man’s murder, a Monk, a Wig maker lady and a Lumberjack , find shelter at the ruins of Rasomon gate to be safe from the storm that is coming. The “Rasomon Phenomenon” tries to pose questions about the relativity of truth and how much each person’s own idea of truth is related with factors like character, educational level or personal benefit. We were asked to design the poster and the flyer of the play. Our idea was affected by the script and by one of the basic characters of the play, the Lumberjack who is a key character in the story. We created a Middle Age axe and used photos of the protagonists of the play.

WHAT HAS BEEN REQUESTED AND THE SOLUTION

We were asked to design the poster, the flyer and the show’s program.

For the posters design, we were inspired by the main leading actor’s desire. The caramelized apple she wanted to eat before she committed suicide. The apple was photorealistically reproduced in 3D to create the impression of a real caramelized apple.

For the show’s program design we relied on the poster. We used photographs from the theater and the play.  We chose the letters and the general aesthetics to have the red apple’s color.
